These Rules may be updated at any time, with notice from Chinatown Fair. It is up to the Competitor to read these updated rules as they are released.

The Event Fee must be payed in full with cash during your arrival. If someone else that is participating is paying for you, please reach out to the Event Organizers ahead of time.

Attendance Policy

Players are expected to arrive on time at the start of the tournament, or the suggested arrival time of their pool (if applicable).

Players who fail to arrive on time will have their matches postponed until they are the last match that still needs to be run.

If the Player who has not checked in still has not arrived at that point, they will be disqualified from the tournament.

Tournament Structure

Tournaments follow Different Structures depending on which tournament you sign up for. Please check the Event Specific Information for more info about the specific structure of the tournament you are attending.

Qualifying

Qualifying for tournaments is conducted entirely online via score submissions. There is no on-site qualifying round on the day of the event; the bracket is populated based on these prior submissions.

To qualify, players must play a
single-player*, 3-track set consisting of three specific songs provided by the organizers. These songs may be played in any order within the set. Players may send in as many attempts as they like, with the highest scoring set being utilized for seeding.

No submissions may be sent to The Organizers after the duration of The Qualifiers has elapsed.

  •  MaiMai DX Players should play their sets Alone. 2 Player Sets are not recommended unless both players are qualifying, or if both players have agreed to play the set list. The Setlist may not be interrupted by a different song once it has started.
  • Pump it Up Players should specify which side is theirs, even if only one of them is participating in the tournament. Separate Qualifying Posts should be used if a player intends on posting multiple attempts.

MaiMai DX - Additional Information

Players must use their own Aime card for all qualification submissions to track score authenticity. However, Aime cards will not be used during the main event matches, as the Aime Service will be down during the tournament.

All submissions must be from the MaiMai DX Cabinets that are
OFFICIALLY CONNECTED to SEGA's Servers. This is for integrity purposes.

Song Selection & Win Condition

Match Sets are created using the  Save/Ban format.

The Players are given a pool of songs, chosen randomly from the difficulty tier of the current Round.

Both players may Save a song (Prevents the selected song from being banned), and Ban a song (Removes Song from the set).

The Person to Pick first is decided through Coin Toss, and will usually be given the choice to either Pick or Ban a song, unless the tournament calls for a fixed Choice Order.

After both players have made their selections, the Saved songs, along with the remaining song, will be played in randomized order.

The player with the highest cumulative Achievement Rate (%) across the final selected songs for maimai DX wins the match.

For Pump It Up's waterfall format, the following Song Selection & Win Condition Rules apply:

Players will play 3 randomly chosen songs, with the highest cumulative scoring player proceeding to the next round.

In case of a tie, The player with the higher accuracy will proceed.
